For those familiar with Scott Marianis books, the hunt for an ancient relic with a fast paced history, tons of actions and with the pages just flying bye sound quite familiar and intriguing. Imagine this happening with vampires as one of the ingredients of the book, and you got the new series from Scott Mariani.

Marianis take on vampires is not the brutal hive-mind like take that Justin Cronine used in "The Passage", and Guillermo del Toro has in his series. It is more like the romantic version from True Blood and from the teen-hit "Twilight" series. Every vampire has it's own cognitive mind, and acts on their own accord.

Mariani could have done with some more prep work before releasing this book, the vampires are so like humans, that it sometimes is hard to tell them apart. That "dead" being breath hard after running, and their heart is running wild, just spoils the setting a bit for me.

Uprising is a decent book, it has a fast paced plot that involves the vampire federation, that want's to live in peace with humans (without humans knowing of their existence), and the old school vampires that think vampires are beings on a higher plane than humans, and that humans only should exists as slaves and food for vampires. The plot involves humans that hate vampires, but end up working with them, and the hunt for an ancient relic that has great powers.

If it had not been for Mariani forgetting that this is not one of his Ben Hope novels, this novel includes vampires and humans, and they are not the same, this would have been a fantastic read. It is still worth picking up, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series, as the plot started in the first book has some real potential. Hopefully with the same fast paced, hunt for relics, action, but also with a bit different take on how vampires actually behave.

Uprising Scott G Mariani 9781847562128 Books Reviews

It's a page turner as per usual with Scott's books. Bought the follow on book, The Cross as soon as I finished it.
This is the first of Scott Mariani's Vampire Federation novels and although part of a series it reads well as a standalone novel but certainly leaves the reader wanting to know what is going to happen next. I have also read the "Shadow Project" (Nothing to do with vampires) and this novel is similarly fast paced. It brings the vampire story up-to-date which makes it easier to relate to. Vampires have some of the classic weaknesses for example they cannot go out in the sun but they have overcome this by the means of drugs.
The Heroine of the story Alex is a Vampire an agent of the Vampire Federation which polices the actions of vampires however there is a rival faction that wants to return to the traditional vampire ways and the story is basically a battle between the two factions involving not only vampires but the police etc etc. A number of threads are brought together and at the end although it is obvious it is going to be continued the ending is satisfying.I also liked the question and answer session with the author at the end which explained where he got some of his ideas. One to read.
Apart from Dracula I haven't read any vampire books, however this one is amazing and as it is in present day makes it even better a must for any vampire fan or Scott Mariani fan!!
Scott has an amazing fantasy. Unfortunately I read them in the wrong order.
Still I loved both of them
If people love books vampires and gory details then u should read it.
Fantastic book by Scott Mariani again I could not put both Vampire Federatin books down. I am hoping that there is a third book and cannot wait.
